Cardinals continue to shuffle the deck chairs along their offensive line - Today's Pigskin (blog)

Let’s begin with the positives to be gleaned for the Arizona Cardinals in Saturday’s 22-19 loss at the gun to the San Diego Chargers at University of Phoenix Stadium, their second exhibition-season loss in as many attempts. The run defense was really, really good. In fact, if you were to add up all the resistance combined for those half-dozen sacks, you might charitably sum it up as half a block. Mike Iupati, signed to a big contract in the offseason to plug a hole at left guard, looked stiff and lumbering in his Cardinals debut and we soon understood why. He needed arthroscopic knee surgery ( first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter ) and figures to miss the first month of the season, at minimum. Jonathan Cooper, slated to start at right guard, has been waylaid by knee and wrist ailments. The Cardinals don’t seem to have any idea whom to start at center. Meanwhile, coach Bruce Arians is already openly questioning the focus and work ethic of first-round pick D. J. Humphries, who didn’t start on Saturday despite soon-to-be-suspended Bobby Massie.
