Former Bishop Noll baseball coach Larry Bentley dies - nwitimes.com

Former Bishop Noll boys basketball and baseball coach Jack Gabor was right to the point about his feelings about Bishop Noll history teacher and former baseball coach Larry Bentley, who died Sunday from cancer. In addition to teaching at the school for 32 years, he was the Warriors head baseball coach from 1991-1996 as well as a driving instructor for Certified Driving School. His baseball teams won sectional titles in 1995 and 1996. Former Noll baseball coach and current history teach Paul Wirtz said Bentley will be remembered as someone who would do anything to help someone out. "Every day I came to work, LB made my day," Wirtz said. "I don't think there is another person who loved Bishop Noll or cared for Noll more than Larry Bentley. Former Bishop Noll football and track coach, and former athletic director Jerry Vlasic remembers Bentley as a person who could and would do anything to help. Bentley, 65, was Gabor's assistant in baseball and succeeded him. Gabor said Bentley was more than just a coach for him. "He was a friend's friend," Gabor said. "People asked how hard was it to coach basketball, then go to baseball since they overlapped, especially in 1988 when we went to the final four in basketball. Source: www.nwitimes.com
