General Motors Recalls Outgoing Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra HD Trucks - GM Authority (blog)

General Motors is recalling 9,733 Chevrolet and GMC heavy-duty trucks equipped with the 6. 6L Duramax diesel engines with dual fuel tanks. The recall includes Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD pickups from 2012-2013 model years. In the affected vehicles, the transfer pump which moves fuel from the rear fuel tank to the front tank could malfunction, causing the fuel gauge to display an inaccurate reading. GM will notify owners of affected vehicles and dealers will inspect and replace the transfer pump free of charge. January also marks the last month that the old body style GM Heavy Duty trucks will be on sale, as the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 HD are set to launch at the end of the month, along with the 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 HD trucks. Bough a new 2012 3500hd and at 128,000 blew the entire fuel system out of my truck. Received a directive from General Motors stating if metal debris was found in system the entire fuel system was required to be changed. Source: gmauthority.com
