I am the second owner of this vehicle, purchasing it in August 2018 from friends of our family, the original owners. In 2004 they traded in their Corvette and purchased it new from Chase Chevrolet in Stockton, CA. It was used as a weekend fun vehicle for them, never driven in the rain and always garaged. It was their baby, and they loved driving it around and showing it off.
After buying it from our family friends, I dropped it off at my mechanic and had it serviced and checked out. I took his advice and looking back, I’m glad I did. I can put you in touch with him if you are at all concerned about the mechanical condition.
After purchasing it, I joined the SSR Fanatics blog and learned a lot about ownership and maintenance of this special vehicle. As with all things, time takes its toll on working parts and to avoid potential problems while driving, preventive maintenance is wise.
THE BAD NEWS: These vehicles have known issues (as reported by other owners on the SSR Fanatics blog) that require preventive maintenance. The factory parts either wear prematurely or just break when you least expect it, leaving you stranded.
THE GOOD NEWS: I had my mechanic perform the necessary service items before any problems surfaced (receipts available) :New improved aftermarket radiator fan - New bushings for shift linkage (both ends) - New heat shield for ABS brakes - Refurbish gauge cluster - New belts
Of course I had regular oil changes done as well as radiator flush and AC service...all the things you would do if you wanted a reliable vehicle that performs and drives as new.
I have only...
