1941 chevy truck 1/2 ton. This was a very late 41 production because it had the stamped steel outer door handles and bakelite window cranks and rear window without a die cast ring that indicated war production 1942, but still had a one piece headliner and die cast turn signals from 1941. cowl VIN tag present and legible, 5AK is a 1941 Kansas City built 1/2 ton. Bed is a 1941 long bed that has been shortened 9 inches, rear fenders are 37-38 thick steel with the style line around the opening. Found at a farm sale in 2016. matching paint has been added to the front clip and bed because they were completely surface rusted. cab doors and roof are original paint. structural rust (cab floor, front and rear cab mounts) was cut out and repaired. cosmetic rust (front cab corners under fenders, section of back wall hidden by bed, body line on rear cab) patched and sealed. there was rust through on the running boards were the mounts were attached, that has been completely structurally repaired but not cosmetically. there was some rust through on the upper wiper cover that I patched. I have the key to the drivers door lock but not to the passenger lock. I rebuilt the windshield, it was rusted and swollen but now after new connectors, new screws, new center bar, new glass, and new gasket it fits well and looks great. I rebuilt the window regulators and installed new window felts. the drivers door latch was rebuilt but the passenger did not require it. I installed new handle rods to let the doors open from inside. bed is the original S10 steel bed floor covered with a cedar veneer using the original bed strips.

this truck would take thousands of hours and tens of thousands of dollars to make beautiful, but that would be a gigantic waste of time. better to accept it for what it is, a truck you can drive every day, haul mulch from the garden center, take to show and shines. it is a hit even at the gas station.
