On Site Detail, a mobile car wash and detailing business, will launch this weekend at Party on the Prairie with $10 car washes to benefit Opportunity Village. “It’s to raise money and let people know we exist, said co-owner Cory Gerdts, who runs the business with his brother-in-law, Gabe Haugland. Custom Pro is organizing Party on the Prairie in the parking lot of Cinema West, 4700 Fourth St. S. W. On Site Detail is partnering with Custom Pro, a local audio and video business, as its detailer. Car washes will be held from 4 to 6 p. m. Friday and 10 a. m. to noon and 4 to 7 p. m. Saturday. On Site Detail is based on a business Haugland saw at Fort Benning in Georgia when he was in Army Judge Advocate General school. His car was detailed inside and out while he was in a class. The business provides a flexible service for the owner by going to the car, boat or airplane. Haugland nonchalantly mentioned the business to Gerdts, who decided it was a good idea. They found a 1974 Ford F100 on Craig’s List. Not only is the business convenient for customers, it fits with the culture in Clear Lake, said Gerdts, citing old cars, a classic car parade (scheduled for Friday) and car shows.
