A 33-year-old Viroqua man has been identified as the suspected driver in a stolen vehicle case out of Coon Valley, Friday, that left a 55-year-old Viroqua man injured after he attempted to retrieve his vehicle. In a story reported by the Vernon County Broadcaster on Tuesday, Dwight Zietlow, 55, of Viroqua had his Ford F-150 pick-up truck stolen three-and-a-half weeks ago from his residence on the west side of the city of Viroqua. On Friday, Zietlow was driving his Ford Escort to Norskedalen. Zietlow saw Sobkowiak driving his truck toward Coon Valley and turned his car around to follow the truck. Zietlow took a different route after Sobkowiak took a turn in Coon Valley, but all the while Zietlow had an eye on where Sobkowiak was driving and he was eventually able to pull his car, topped with the canoe, in front of the truck. Zietlow said Sobkowiak had used paint to try to disguise the truck, but Zietlow knew it was his stolen F-150 because of a custom hitch he had attached to the rear. Zietlow said he approached Sobkowiak in the truck and when he got to the driver’s door said, “Where did you get this truck. Zietlow said he saw Sobkowiak move to put the truck in gear.
