Gasoline-powered 2016 Nissan Titan Pickup Trucks Coming Next Year – Photo Gallery - autoevolution

In one of the lenghtiest press releases published by Nissan North America, the second-largest automotive company in Japan announces that the US-bound Titan full-size pickup truck will be offered with a choice of three engines – the behemoth... The 5-liter Cummins turbo diesel is available only on the top-of-the-range XD model. Nissan tod us that the Titan will be "offered with V8 and V6 gasoline engines," but didn't go into the fine details. Our two cents for the V6 go on the 4-liter DOHC 24-valve unit that animates the Frontier pickup truck, churning 261 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 281 lb-ft (381 Nm) of torque at 4,000 rpm. On the 2015 model year Titan, this powerhouse develops 317 HP at 5,200 rpm and 385 lb-ft of torque (521 Nm) from 3,400 rpm. That's 10 HP down and 10 lb-ft up on the 2. 7-liter EcoBoost V6 available on the 2016 Ford F-150. It will be an expensive beast to behold, but the 2016 Nissan Titan XD Crew Cab has a trick up its sleeve. Courtesy of the 310 HP and 555 lb-ft (752 Nm) produced by the 5-liter Cummins diesel engine, the Titan XD promises to tow and haul more than 12,000 lbs (5,443 kg) when properly equipped, but offer the fuel economy of a half-ton pickup truck.
