Ford hiring $15.78-an-hour technicians - The Courier-Journal

Ford Motor Co. has begun taking applications for full-time vehicle assembly technicians for the Kentucky Truck Plant on Chamberlain Lane. It’s unclear how many $15. 78-an-hour entry-level positions are available, but word that Ford is accepting applications spread quickly in the last few days. At Ford’s request, the center’s staff began taking applications in late July, and had received nearly 1,100 by midday Wednesday. Up to 5,000 applications will be accepted, but Ford isn’t filling that many jobs. If the applicant passes the aptitude test, a drug screening and background check follow, Monica Collins, workforce development consultant at the career center, said. UAW officials told employees recently that Ford is in the process of hiring and eventually intends to launch another crew at KTP. Ford officials previously confirmed ongoing preparations for launching the next generation of its aluminum body Super Duty. Ford spokesman Judd Templin referred a reporter to the Kentucky Career Center and provided no additional details. Source: www.courier-journal.com
