Full details of a huge vintage car auction that took place at Reliant Park last month are out and reveal a whopping $33. 6 million changed hands for classic cars that weekend. At the Mecum Houston 2014 auction, held April 10-12, 1,085 cars were put up for sale with 765 of them actually changing hands for $33,633,058. The highest hammer price by a long way was $7 million for a 1964 Ford GT40 prototype, GT/104. According... The pristine classic was kept hidden for 45 years selling, for $725,000. The car's amazing back story no doubt bumped up the value. After just a few months of driving it around, the car disappeared. McNamara said he'd sold it. It wasn't until his death in 2011 that the car was rediscovered by McNamara's neighbors, who inherited everything. Also of note at the sale were a 1968 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro RS/SS which went for $450,000, a 2008 Ferrari 430 Scuderia Coupe at $170,000, and a 1934 Cadillac Fleetwood V-12 All-Weather Phaeton at $165,000.
