1972 Ford Ranchero GT makes experience fun - San Francisco Chronicle

He currently lives in Pacifica with his wife and two daughters, and they are a "Ford Family. For as long as I can remember, I have always been a Ford guy. Back in 1972, when my older brother Bill was 16, he and my dad, Don, went in together on the purchase of a 1972 Ford Ranchero GT from S&C Ford. They special-ordered it so they could hand pick everything right down to the colors (white with blue stripes), engine (351 Cleveland), interior colors (blue) and other details. I was three years old when I first saw the car (or truck, depending on how you look at the Ranchero) and took every opportunity to play in it when it was parked in the garage. I always looked forward to going for a ride in the "cool" Ranchero with my brother or dad. Bill drove the Ranchero until 1985 when the engine needed a rebuild. My dad gave me an option: we could sell the Ranchero and get me a hot rod of my own choice, or he would have the engine and transmission rebuilt and let me use the Ford as my high school ride.
