An illegal immigrant who had been deported five times and had a history of seven felony arrests was charged with the crime. More than 1,800 immigrants that the federal government wanted to deport were released from local jails and later re-arrested for various crimes according to a report just released. Those re-arrested were among the 8,145 who were freed between January and August of 2014 despite requests from federal agents that they be held for deportation. The San Francisco Sheriff in a press conference seemed to show little remorse for Kate Steinle and seemed to want to place blame everywhere else except for his role in releasing the suspect back out onto the streets. For Kate Steinle’s family, it’s time to have a serious conversation about sanctuary cities and how they have the potential to impede the law and put the public in danger. Source: www.theunion.com
