Tweaked 2015 Ram Heavy Duty Claims Best-in-Class Towing - MotorTrend Magazine

Ram is going big and playing fair. Thanks to a recalibrated and more powerful engine, the 2015 Ram 3500 can now claim best-in-class torque output and towing and payload capacity. Additionally, Ram says it achieved those tow ratings by adhering to SAE J2807 test criteria, making it the only automaker to use the standard in both its light and heavy duty trucks. Aww hell, here we go (sigh) with Ram and Ford. GM doesn't have much say so in this unless they come out with a new diesel engine that makes over 800 lb/ft torque. I just hope that this competitive inch-worming doesn't make both show their hands with nothing on tap in the future. Now you just have to get past the GM only ugly and unsightly frames hanging down past the body. It might be faster (haven't verified) but it's ugly ass faster. Not to discredit GM, but in what specific ways are it's HDs better, specifically RAM. But if Im not mistaken, I believe the licensure agreement with Aisin was prior to Chrysler's partnership with ZF. It was a similar situation with Daimler and the NAG1 trans, where they agreed to use it through 2014 model year. Source: wot.motortrend.com
