The Dodge Ram was recently voted “the most dangerous vehicle in America,” prompting me, of course, to immediately request a test-drive, remembering Dr. Frankenstein’s words to Dr. Waldman in 1931’s “Frankenstein. A week later, there I was, negotiating this great big slab o’ truck over hill and dale, streets and highways, through Harlem and the wilds of Long Island. My test truck had two wheels in the front, four in the back, making it the fattest ride I’ve ever negotiated. The 2012 Ram Heavy Duty is available in eight different trim levels – ST, SLT, Outdoorsman, Lone Star, Big Horn, Power Wagon, Laramie and Laramie Longhorn. My tester was the Laramie Limited, outfitted with some of the most plush interior amenities you’ll ever see in a pickup including leather seating with contrasting piping, LED lighting, black burled walnut trim, chrome-ringed gauges with ultra-cool... Despite its curb weight of 8,020 pounds, its handling was ballerina-like, and after a week’s drive, I’m happy to report the Ram isn’t any more dangerous than any other ride out there for sale as long as you follow the golden highway rule, which is... ” Of course, I didn’t flip the Ram, nor was I T-boned, nor did I experience anything even close to.
