PAWTUCKET - Hits were hard to come by, but runs were even harder to score in a pitchers' duel between Pineview and Warren that opened the District II Major Division Little League All-Star tournament last Saturday night and saw the Pawtucket team... He was responsible for the first run scored by Pineview and struck out 12 batters. "Runs were pretty tough to come by, especially with those two pitchers on the mound," Pineview head coach Mark Massey said. "(Garneau) was on my regular-season team, and he is a big-time pitcher as a 12-year-old. Pineview's first run came in the top of the third inning, as did their first hit. Jones rebounded with a strikeout, but Lonnie Santiago beat out a slow-rolling grounder for an infield hit. After a passed ball moved both runners into scoring position, Massey scored when Gaspar grounded out to the first baseman. Jones got the first batter to ground out to third, and when the next batter struck out swinging, Jones reached his pitch limit. Garneau then hit a hard grounder that took a bad hop and hit an infielder, and he beat the throw to first as Force scored. Jones led off with a double to left on the first pitch he.
