4 minutes after text, 3 from Chincoteague die in crash - Delmarva Daily Times

Three Chincoteague residents were fatally injured in a single-vehicle crash Monday night in Worcester County. A friend said he received a text from the driver, 25-year-old Nicole Gabrielle Earnest, minutes before the crash happened. "I got a text from Nikki at 8:26 last night and at 8:30 all three of my friends were dead," said Damien Howard, also of Chincoteague. Earnest and two passengers, Amanda Hope Phillips, 22, and Sean Edward Mobley, 45, all were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Maryland State Police. Earnest, who moved to Chincoteague about three months ago, has two sons and Phillips has a daughter, Howard said. Police say Earnest was driving north on Route 12 in Girdletree when she lost control of the 1998 Acura TL at a curve in the road around 8:30 p. m. The car went off the road and struck three trees, uprooting and severing one. Source: www.delmarvanow.com
