It took me almost a half-century of life to finally attend an outdoor weekend music festival. An outdoor music festival that hopes for Mother Nature’s cooperation can easily turn into a mud festival, especially during our wonderful Maritime summer. When the outdoor music festival is the eighth annual in the village of Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, now we’re talking ‘road trip’. We visit our good friends there, Pam and Al McPhail, talk cars, gardening, share family news, have some laughs and gorge ourselves on Pam’s legendary brown bread. The village of Perth-Andover and its environs is a tight-knit community all year but when Hullabaloo rolls around, what a warm welcome. This year, we are going to hit the road to Perth-Andover and bask in that warmth for the whole weekend. Instead, I get to drive the 600-kilometre route in a 2016 Audi A6 3. 0-litre TDI. The diesel powertrain gets great fuel economy, the eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission is Audi-smooth, the 240 horsepower feels pretty good, too.
