Odd choice. BMW made an odd choice with its oddball electric car. Nearly everyone who had anything to say about the odd-duck compact called it odd. Some used odd as in ugly dumb when comparing it with the Honda Element box. Others used odd as in quirky cool when comparing it with the Kia Soul. Whatever the relationship to odd, BMW was consistent in making the i3 like nothing else on the road. While most other plug-ins try to look like conventional cars, the i3 proudly boasts its eco-oddness on the inside and out. The gray body, underscored with a BMW blue stripe at the door bottoms, is made of thermoplastic panels and doors, one quarter of which are made from recycled materials or renewable sources. Instead, the rear door is hinged toward the back of the car, and the front and rear doors swing out like French doors. It makes getting in and out of the car much easier as you don't need to move the front seats forward to get in the back. Source: www.chicagotribune.com
