BMW Recalls 2005-2007 7-Series To Fix Software Glitch - The Car Connection

The NHTSA bulletin describes the problem this way: “Due to a software problem, the doors appear to be closed and latched, but, in fact, may inadvertently open. As The Detroit News reports, the recall comes five years after BMW recalled vehicles in Japan for the same problem and five years after the NHTSA initially asked BMW about the issue. In documentation (PDF) BMW filed with the NHTSA, the automaker said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition. What BMW will do. BMW plans to notify owners to take their vehicles to a BMW dealer for an update of the software. The BMW safety recall is expected to begin in November 2012.
