Arrest ends high-speed pursuit on I-70 East - WHIO

A man who triggered a high-speed pursuit on I-70 East that involved police and state patrols from two states is on his way to jail. Trooper Andrew Meadors, Ohio Highway Patrol post in Dayton, said the pursuit began in Indiana where the suspect, David Simpson, 22, of Indianapolis is accused of stealing a 2012 BMW 550 from a gas station. The pursuit continued east on I-70, Meadors said, reaching a top speed of 110 mph before Simpson ditched the car along the on-ramp to I-70 from state Route 48. At one point during the chase, the suspect crossed the median to head west on I-70 and... At the on-ramp from state Route 48 to I-70 East, he turned and drove into oncoming traffic a while before turning onto the shoulder of the ramp. Simpson ran, jumping one fence onto the Meijer store property and jumped a second fence to a construction area outside the store. The Indiana State Patrol, Preble County sheriff’s deputies and Englewood police were among the law enforcement agencies that assisted the state patrol, Meadors said. Source: www.whio.com
