Duluth church plans big expansion - Duluth News Tribune

At a ceremony Sunday, church members broke ground for a proposed 16,000-square-foot expansion that would nearly triple the size of the existing church, located at 3727 W. Arrowhead Rd. , by early 2017. "Today we celebrate where we've been and... "We want to our church to be a part of the community not just on Sunday mornings but seven days a week," said Jeff Watczak, who co-chairs Eastridge's capital campaign for the project. Asbury said the proposed church would ably accommodate not only traditional worship services but a host of other activities. "It provides people with an opportunity to come experience what God is. That doesn't necessarily have to be a Sunday morning service," Asbury said. But Watczak pointed out that a number of members have offered to help put up the building, just as they did the existing church. When the value of that sweat equity is factored into the equation, he figures the true value of the church will likely be more in the neighborhood of about $3 million. Watczak was part of the team that put up the 8,500-square-foot church building that's been home to Eastridge for the past 15 years. "There isn't a time when I'm in the church that I don't remember all the work we put into it. " he said. Source: www.duluthnewstribune.com
