Popular Mechanics says popularity of Buick Encore SUV is unique to Indiana - The Elkhart Truth

Indiana even has an official state pie: the sugar cream pie. And Indiana’s unofficial “state car,” at least according one national publication, is the Buick Encore , a crossover sports utility vehicle described as an affordable mix of practicality and luxury. Popular Mechanics worked with an auto analyst to determine which car was the most distinctive in each state. In other words, what model of car did residents of each state buy far more often than any other state. In fact, Buick Encore sales in Indiana are 249 percent higher than national average, according to the analysis. And Indiana was the only state in which the Encore was made the distinctive list. “It’s not all that surprising,” said Milo Patterson, a salesman at Lochmandy Motors , which stocks Buicks, including the Encore, among many other makes. It’s big enough to meet such users’ needs without all the space of a full-size SUV, yet retains a measure of luxury that is the hallmark of Buick. What’s more, with a price tag that starts at $26,500 and goes up to around $33,500, depending on options, it’s more within reach than the higher-priced Buick Enclave. Source: www.elkharttruth.com
