"Brake pads that remain partially engaged with the rotors may cause excessive brake heat that may result in a fire. The problem has been attributed to the electronic parking brake software that can prevent the arm that controls the parking brake from traveling far enough when the parking brake is disengaged. NHTSA noted that the driver of the affected car may "experience poor vehicle acceleration, undesired deceleration, excessive brake heat, and premature wear to some brake components.
