Red Land's Steve Zack relishing NBA Summer League opportunity with 76ers - PennLive.com

An undrafted Steve Zack earning a chance to play in the NBA Summer League isn't so surprising to those who know him. Zack starred at Red Land High School (2011 graduate) and then at La Salle University, from where he graduated in May with a degree in business marketing. Instead, Zack built a reputation as a grinder, somebody who earned his playing time. He's never stopped working to improve his game. So when the Philadelphia 76ers called the undrafted free agent at the end of June with an invitation to mini camp, then extended that offer to play alongside the Sixers' top pick, Jahlil Okafor, and the rest of the team's young talent in this... "The opportunity he has now with the Sixers is only partially due to his size and athleticism," Scott Slayton , his former coach at Red Land, said. As of this story's posting, Zack played in three of the Sixers' four Vegas games, splitting the starts at center with Okafor, the highly touted Duke product. Zack certainly isn't guaranteed a roster spot with the 76ers this season and, in fact, is considered a long shot to make the team. He and his agency, Arete Sports Agency, were exploring.
