2015-2016 Subaru Legacy, Outback Recalled For Fire Risk - Washington Post

Subaru is recalling nearly 2,900 Subaru Legacy sedans and Outback crossovers from the 2015 and 2016 model years. In a notice sent to dealers, Subaru says that the problem stems in part from a faulty seal: "During the manufacturing process of the propeller shaft that connects to the vehicle’s transmission, the seal cap and seal located inside the propeller... The recall affects Legacy sedans and Outback crossovers manufactured between July 3, 2015 and July 27, 2015. All told, some 2,893 vehicles in the U. S. will need to be repaired. Subaru says that it will begin mailing recall notices to owners on August 28, 2015. (A stop-sale has already been sent to dealers. ) After receiving those notices, owners will be able to take their vehicles to a Subaru dealer, who will replace the propeller shaft at no charge.
