Man Fatally Shot Before SUV Slams Into Other Vehicles and South L.A. Home ... - KTLA

A man was fatally shot Thursday afternoon before the Chevy Tahoe he was driving struck at least one other vehicle and slammed into the front of a home in the South Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles, a Los Angeles Fire Department official said. Two Los Angeles Police Department officers pulled the man out of the SUV soon after the crash, which occurred in the 100 block of East 50th Street, according to Erik Scott, spokesman for the Fire Department. Officials initially said the driver was found by LAFD personnel. "The officers that were on scene immediately removed a male from that vehicle," said LAPD Detective Megan Aguilar. The relative described Simpson as a man who tried to keep kids away from gangs and routinely set up sporting events at a park not far from where he was shot. Firefighters responded to the scene and quickly extinguished the flames, which had spread from the SUV to the house and a car, Scott told KTLA. Firefighters had deployed the substance in response to a fuel leak caused by the collision, Scott said. The circumstances that led to the incident were under investigation, but the shooting appeared to be gang related, Aguilar said. The gunman was described as a black man wearing a red hoodie and black pants. Source: ktla.com
