He was called upon by the Cardinals to throw 29 pitches in extra innings Sunday in Pittsburgh after throwing 27 pitches the day before. That also was a loss for the Cardinals to second-place Pittsburgh and cut their lead to 2 ½ games in the National League Central. Rosenthal appeared in three of the four games at PNC Park this past week, and he has warmed up for at least four games this month that he didn’t appear in.
