Classic car show reunites auto detailer with cars, friends - MLive.com

MARTIN, MI -- For Kalamazoo auto detailer Mark Black, Saturday's Super Chevy auto show at the U. S. 131 MotorSports Park brought together more than old cars. From 2006-2009, Black organized an International Show Car Association-sanctioned event at Devos Place in Grand Rapids, where Black got to know the classic cars and their owners. After the show's final year, Black lost contact with some of the people who made annual trips to Grand Rapids to enter their classics into his competition. "It's like a family reunion, and that's the great part about it," Black said. "It's been so long since the last show in 2009, but this one brings so many of those cars back, so it's really nice. As the owner of Bullet's Wash and Wax in Kalamazoo, Black appreciates a well-maintained classic, and even though the years have aged the cars' owners, he said the old cars he once rolled into DeVos Place look as good as ever. "Some of them I haven't seen since 2009, but the cars still look great," Black said. "They're like a part of the owner's family, and that's how they take care of them.
