Troopers investigate crashes - Portsmouth Daily Times

A Scioto County school bus driver has been cited for failure to control a motor vehicle after a bus he was driving, loaded with students, Friday was involved in a minor crash. Robert Knipp, 43, of Ironton was operating a 2011 International School Bus belonging to the Vern Riffe School around 3:30 p. m. The Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash occurred on Scherers Hollow Road near Pleasant... Troopers said the bus was traveling northbound on Scherers Hollow Road around a slight left hand curve and that Knipp reportedly drove off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail. The bus was loaded with students at the time. that student was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center by Portsmouth Ambulance. A Scioto County man has been airlifted to a Columbus hospital following a single vehicle crash. Montgomery, 63, of Lucasville, was driving a 1997 Ford Ranger southbound on Lapperell Road in Pike County Friday when the Ohio State Highway Patrol said he drove off the right side of the road and struck a tree. The Portsmouth dispatch center received the report at around 3:54 p. m. and responded to the scene. Montgomery was charged with failure to control and operating a vehicle intoxicated.
