AMJH Robo-Rangers making a name for themselves in competition - The Valley Town Crier

In just over two years, the Alton Memorial Junior High School (AMJH) Robo-Rangers robotics teams have become a dominant force in the area, at the state level, and at national competitions. This year, the Robo-Rangers swept the top spots at the Area 1 Texas Computer Education Association contest and qualified nine teams for the state championships. They also had a strong showing at the robotics day event at HESTEC, and qualified for the National Science Bowl competition for the second year in a row. The National Science Bowl competition is held in Washington, DC and pits the top 48 teams in the nation against one another. The Robo-Ranger National Science Bowl team (pictured left to right) consisted of: Sylvia Garcia, principal. They were one of four teams to represent Texas and finished 24th. This is a large jump from last year, when the team ranked 35th in the academic contest. The Science Bowl is sponsored by the U. S. Department of Energy, and is a nationwide academic competition that tests student knowledge in all areas of Science and Mathematics. The second part of the competition is an electric car contest.
