3000 runners in Shawshank Hustle - Mansfield News Journal

MANSFIELD – Runners and walkers dressed in striped prison uniforms, police outfits and other distinctive costumes dashed along the streets Saturday morning during the Shawshank Hustle. The hustle started and ended at the Ohio State Reformatory, where much of "The Shawshank Redemption" was filmed in 1993. Carla Coon, who rode her bike from Lexington to watch friends and family participate in the race, said it started a little... The race started around 9 a. m. Former Mansfield resident Ellie Arnold said her husband, Thomas Arnold, was participating in the race. "We grew up here, and we love ("The Shawshank Redemption,") Ellie said. Thomas ran in a shirt he made with Morgan Freeman's face on it, and he said he completed the course in about 38 minutes. He said he'll be back to race in the Shawshank Hustle again in the future. The running duo said they signed up for the race for the sport and the distinctive location. "We love to run, and the location at the reformatory sounded really cool," Hartman said.
