Accident victim recalled as 'a very good hearted person' - Norwalk Reflector

A New London man died Tuesday from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on Ohio 545 near Hoover Road. Deven Phillips, 20, of New London, was driving north at 4:18 p. m. Tuesday on Ohio 545 in Madison Township when his 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier was struck by a southbound 1999 Ford F150 driven by Eric Gramley, 27, of Mansfield. Phillips was a 2014 New London High School graduate and had attended the district for the majority of his school years, New London Local Schools Superintendent Brad Romano said. He said he personally knew Phillips. “He was a very good hearted person, one of the sweetest boys (and) a fantastic human being,” the superintendent said. He added Phillips was very personable, easy to get along with, possessed a “great sense of humor” and was willing to help others. Phillips came from a “very good family” and was involved in many activities in sports at school. “He was very well known (and) very well respected by his peers,” he said. Romano said the district’s two counselors and a school psychologist have been talking with students who felt the need to express their feelings. State highway patrol troopers said Gramley drove off the right side of the road, overcorrected, drove left of center and struck Phillips head-on. Source: www.norwalkreflector.com
