Code Blue Relief Mission Seeks Donations For Van Repairs - TWC News

A local non-profit that collects and delivers donations to Buffalo's homeless is halting its operation after running into some mechanical problems with its van. Time Warner Cable News reporter Rebecca Vogt caught up with the Code Blue Relief Mission, which is crowdfunding to get back on the road again. The Code Blue Relief Mission continues its efforts to help out Buffalo's homeless by taking weekly trips to the downtown area with donated items in a 2003 Chevrolet Astro Van. "Since expanding into the summer months we've definitely helped 150-200 plus people on the streets,” said co-founder Kristen Dixon. We wanted to keep our outreach and keep up with where people were. "We went to take some things to our storage unit the other day but the van has no brakes or power steering. Dixon added, "It's really the only way we have to get out and get on the streets and load enough inventory and people to be able to help us out. So they're turning to the community that has so generously helped them in the past for an added boost. The Dixons set up a crowdfunding page on YouCaring , and set a fundraising goal of $2500.
