Mother of three killed by alleged drunk driver near Lake Murray - KUSI

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) - A man accused of driving drunk and fatally striking a woman in the Lake Murray/San Carlos area pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges of murder, gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI causing injury. The collision occurred last Thursday when 38-year-old Rocio Leamon — a wife and mother of three — was walking to Cowles Mountain. Just as Leamon stepped into the crosswalk, 38-year-old Joshua Daniel Taylor drove through it against a red light and hit Leamon, carrying her 57 feet before she landed face-down on the pavement. According to Deputy District Attorney Steven Schott, a witness said they saw Taylor get out of his Chevrolet Silverado and ditch a vodka bottle near where the accident happened. Taylor -- who has prior DUI convictions from 1996 and 2000 -- had a blood-alcohol content above. Leamon's husband posted the following about her on the night after she died:. My beautiful wife Rocio De Anda Leamon was killed by a drunk driver last night August 13, 2015 crossing the street to Cowles Mtn in San Diego. Taylor, 38, was ordered held on $2 million bail and faces 15 years to life in prison if convicted. Source: www.kusi.com
