2008 Chevy 2500 HD - Heavy Metal Fabrication - Four Wheeler Magazine

These full-time business owners have always had a love for customizing their trucks, but they’ve never built anything like this one. Heavy Metal Fab is the name on their door, and mega trucks are their one true passion. After eight long months and nearly $70,000 in parts and metal alone, Bobby could finally sit in the driver’s seat of the 2008 Chevy 2500 HD truck he has been dreaming about since he was a kid. These springless cushions are mounted to the factory framerails on top, and a set of custom built 5-ton hybrid axles utilizes a Petti-bone planetary housing. Cut and lengthened 5-ton driveshafts link up to the 36-inch-drop billet aluminum transfer case that was also built by Knight Stalker. The final gear ratio in the case is 1. 72:1. After a quick engine tune by Pela Motorsports, the factory-installed V-8 gas engine in the 2008 Chevy 2500 has no problem spinning the 80-inch-tall tires. Long’s Wheel and Rim built and shipped the wheels before 14-ply Goodyear 35. 5x32 tires were added. The subframe cradle on the 2008 Chevy 2500 HD has 48 inches of drop and adds plenty of structure to the frame when digging through Florida muck. Source: www.fourwheeler.com
