Local coach heads up baseball camps for Round Rock Express - Laredo Morning Times

ROUND ROCK – United baseball coach J. J. Gomez has always utilized the summer months to learn something new that he can take back to the Longhorns. Five years ago, Gomez was working a baseball camp at the University of Texas when he saw a flyer that the Round Rock Express minor league team was hosting a slew of camps. The first year Gomez was the guy putting the ball on the tee and he did not get any sort of monetary compensation, but it did not matter since he was gaining valuable experience and knowledge that he could take back and apply to his team. "My goal every year is to get better as a coach and learn more stuff," Gomez said. "Every year I want to learn something new and get more involved with baseball. The most important thing that first year is that I build a relationship with Chris and little by little I started moving on up. ".
