First homes near completion at Edgewater Village - Albany Democrat Herald

Bill Stansell says by the end of June the first houses will be completed and ready for sale at Edgewater Village, the long-awaited subdivision bordering Water Avenue and the Willamette River in east Albany. He said the plans are to have four or five homes ready for sale as summer begins. It has been a long wait for owners George and Paula Diamond of the Portland area, who say seeing workers putting the homes up is a welcome sight. The planned neighborhood, which includes 60 lots on the site of the former Inland Quick Freeze plant, received $2. 4 million from the Central Albany Revitalization Area board to aid in the $17 million project. Instead, owners worked with a designer to come up with a plan to fit in with the surrounding area. The homes are built on small lots in a fashion he says complements surrounding homes. Larger homes in the 2,500-square-foot level are scheduled to be built in the next phase of the project along the riverfront. Stansell said that efforts to transform the city’s waterfront area encouraged the Diamonds to get involved with the project. The designs for the first homes include three bedrooms and two full baths.
