On Wednesday, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said, a deputy tried to pull over a Ford Mustang and a Chevrolet Camaro on Interstate 8 near Arizona 84 at about 4:45 a. m. when the two vehicles separated. The driver, 20-year-old Rigoberto Leue-Tejeda, fled on foot but was tackled by the deputy, the PCSO said in a release. According to deputies, two backpacks with 77 pounds of marijuana and three two-way radios were found in the vehicle. Meanwhile, U. S. Border Patrol agents stopped the Camaro on Stanfield Road north of Interstate 8 and arrested 20-year-old Erick Tarango. The Stanfield area is known as one of the main drug smuggling corridors in western Arizona, according to Sheriff’s Office Director of Administration Tim Gaffney. He added the town had another drug-related arrest Friday morning at Arizona 84 and Stanfield Road.
