RANCHO MURIETA —. Two people are dead and three others injured after a fiery head-on crash along Jackson Road near Rancho Murieta on Tuesday night, according to the CHP. The CHP says a 1993 Chevy Suburban towing a Mitsubishi Eclipse was going eastbound on State Route 16 east of Murieta South Parkway when a westbound 2015 Ford Fusion collided with the SUV almost entirely head-on. Witnesses estimated the SUV was going somewhere between 50 and 55 mph and the Ford was going between 55 and 60 mph. A woman in the front right passenger seat of the SUV exited the vehicle and two children, a 10-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy, were rescued from the backseat by witnesses on the scene. The vehicle fires spread to the grassy area along the north roadway edge but Sacramento Metro Fire arrived on the scene and contained the blaze. Source: fox40.com
