Outpouring of support draws 500 to motorcycle vigil for Trooper Chad Wolf - MLive.com

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI -- Residents lined the streets and gathered at entrances to neighborhoods along Dixie Highway in Clarkston on Sunday. "Kickstands up at 7:30," shouted an Oakland County Sheriff's deputy to a mishmash of an estimated 500 motorcyclists gathered in the rear parking lot of Mr. B's Roadhouse in Clarkston. They gathered to honor the life of State Trooper Chad Wolf, who died after being hit about 6:30 a. m. Friday while patrolling on his state police motorcycle and dragged nearly four miles beneath a 72-year-old Waterford man's trailer. Led by a state police trooper and Oakland County sheriff's deputies, the impressive procession passed the location of the initial collision at exit 93, where Dixie Highway (M-24) crosses Interstate 75 in Clarkston. The motorcade stretched two miles as it entered I-75 and proceeded north to the rest area where Wolf, a 38-year-old married father of four from Fenton, was discovered beneath the trailer, still alive, Friday morning. The sinking sun cast an orange hue and southeasterly shadows Sunday as a rumble approached the rest area. More than 10 minutes later, the last of the bikers arrived and parked alongside long-haul truckers resting in the cabs of their semis. The mass of people gathered in a circle at the rear of the rest area where Wolf's horrific ordeal came to. Source: www.mlive.com
