But then the driver “accelerated back into the left lane and began to flee,” reaching speeds of 130 mph, occasionally changing lanes to pass other vehicles and crossing the center line to enter the oncoming lanes, police said. S. 20, in Town of Porter, the pursuing officer observed the Tahoe’s driver toss a clear plastic bag out the window. “The empty bag was later recovered on the shoulder of the roadway along with 27 individual ziplock bags scattered near the empty bag,” police said. 149 in Burns Harbor, the Tahoe’s driver disregarded a red light at a speed of 120 mph and continued into Portage, where police officers had deployed stop sticks. The Tahoe’s driver succeeded in avoiding the stop sticks but the pursuing officer did not, his front passenger’s side tire hitting one of the tines and deflating, police said.
