Woman escapes injury in alleged kidnapping, carjacking - KSLA-TV

A Shreveport man was arrested following an alleged kidnapping and carjacking Sunday evening. Just before midnight, police were called to a home in the 400 block of West 81st Street on reports of a carjacking. When officers arrived, the female victim reportedly told them she was driving her car near West 81st Street at Linwood Avenue when she was approached by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun. The victim told police that while her car was stopped at the intersection, the men forced their way inside her vehicle and ordered her to drive off. Police said patrol officers investigating the crime found 2002 black Chevrolet Impala matching the description of the victim's car parked in the middle of the roadway in the 1900 block of Alma Street. When officers approached the vehicle, a man fitting the description of the carjacking suspect started running. Powell was charged with a single count of carjacking, aggravated kidnapping, felon in possession of a firearm, as well as other unrelated arrest warrants.
