According to a woman on the scene, while driving her car near West 81st Street at Linwood Avenue, she was approached by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, said SPD spokesman Marcus Hines. The victim said while her car was stopped near the intersection the men allegedly forced their way inside her vehicle and ordered her to drive off. The men reportedly drove off in the woman's vehicle, making off with personal belongings, said Hines. Patrol officers investigating the crime soon located a black 2002 black colored Chevrolet Impala, matching in description to the victim's car, parked in the middle of the roadway in the 1900 block of Alma Street. As officers approached the vehicle a male subject fitting the description of the car-jacker fled from officers on foot. Evidence gathered during the investigation of the case led officers to arrest and subsequently charge Powell with a single count of car-jacking, aggravated kidnapping, felon in possession of a firearm and other unrelated arrest warrants.
