The Gold and Silver Mine: A treasure hoard of stories about accumulated ... - Shore News Today

The most recent was a group of over 100 trains and cars that a person had accumulated over the years for the sole purpose of displaying them in his home, which he did by erecting shelves with train track along the walls of 3 of his rooms which... The unfortunate part was, with the exception of those in the china cabinet, the trains and cars were covered with years of dust, making cleanup a lengthily process. There was so much that it took two trips to get all the trains and their boxes. Another was a storage bin filled with cards from an individual who evidently set up at shows and sold single cards as well as sets and packs. The unfortunate part of this is the single cards which were in “monster boxes” (5,000 count boxes) were more than 15 years old and have no real value at this point. The granddaddy of hoards occurred last year when we purchased the contents of a house (yes, a house) that was filled with sports cards and memorabilia. It took eight people 3 ½ hours to empty the house and the contents filled a box truck. One that happened many years ago was when I was asked to go to a person’s home to purchase a coin collection (and it turned out to be a very nice coin collection). Source: www.shorenewstoday.com
