JANESVILLE—Janesville police are seeking information about the driver of a stolen vehicle after a short high-speed pursuit Monday night on Milton Avenue. Another officer, several blocks away, threw out stop sticks when the 2006 Chevy Equinox passed by him, Sgt. The stop sticks deflated the driver's side front tire, but the driver continued on the wheel rim until he failed to make the turn at Newman Street, drove up onto the terrace and collided with the Wendy's drive-through sign, Ellis said. The driver, believed to be a teen, fled into the crowd of several dozen teens gathered in the parking lot of McDonald's. He ran across Milton Avenue and into the wooded area behind the Janesville Athletic Club, and the teens chased him, Ellis said. Police believe the royal blue 2006 Chevy Equinox was stolen from Rockvale Mobile Home Park between Janesville and Beloit. “We've been unable to contact the registered owner, the registered owner's address is vacant and we've been unable to find anyway to contact that person,” Ellis said. Anyone with information about the identity of the teen driver or the owner of the vehicle can call police at 608-757-2244. The teen is described as a white male between the ages of 14 and 16, about 5 feet 4 inches tall with a slim build. Source: www.gazettextra.com
