2006 Chrysler Crossfire - San Francisco Chronicle

Dave Heventhal is a retired advertising representative, logging 25 years at the San Francisco Chronicle. He can still be found sipping cocktails at Original Joe's from time to time. Having retired from North Beach in San Francisco and moved to Sonoma County, my wife and I decided to find a suitable roadster that would cost less than an around-the-world cruise, but would still provide back road style and fun. After much research, we settled on finding a low-mileage 2006 Chrysler Crossfire in white. The hunt was on for my Midlife Chrysler. Seven years ago, the Crossfire was a joint effort by Mercedes and Chrysler. It featured a six-cylinder, fuel-injected, 18-valve Mercedes engine with a five-speed automatic transmission, wrapped in a sleek Chrysler-designed body. This Chrysler/Mercedes hybrid was designed to compete with Porsche. Top speed is 150 mph, and the Crossfire can achieve 0 to 60 in just over 4. 5 seconds. Months of computer searches returned modest results, including one in Tennessee with 17,000 miles on it, as well as some high-mileage hardtops in LA. We decided to continue our search. We finally found our low-mileage roadster in Portland, Ore. He emphasized that this Crossfire had been garaged in a heated facility and was never driven in the rain. Source: www.sfgate.com
