Teen driver will face charges after crash - Daily Journal Online

A Bonne Terre teen received minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash early Saturday at 3:54 a. m. off Old Bonne Terre Road a half a mile north of River Woods Drive in St. Francois County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, 16-year-old Jeffery Gossett was driving a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus when he traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck several trees. Bonne Terre Police had been looking for a suspicious vehicle with the same description earlier that morning. According to Bonne Terre Police Chief Doug Calvert a call came in about a suspicious vehicle at Park Street and Fite Street. “Two officers went out to investigate the call and one sat at East School Street, while the other sat at West School Street,” said Calvert. “A vehicle fitting the description from the call came down West School Street, saw the police car and blew through the stop sign. At that time the officer turned his lights on and the suspect vehicle failed to yield to the officer. “So the officer notified Desloge Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol of the suspect vehicle heading in that direction. It was later discovered that it was a stolen vehicle from Bonne Terre and there were several boxes of candy recovered from the vehicle. Source: dailyjournalonline.com
