The FBI accuses an Oregon woman of hiring a felon to knock off her husband in Utah with an offer of $600 in cash, an online business, some property in California and a 2005 Dodge Stratus. "As part of the divorce decree, Hamill was ordered to take out a life insurance policy with a value of $100,000 naming Gygi as the sole beneficiary," according to an affidavit signed by FBI Special Agent Timothy W. Suttles. The couple was ordered to sell their real property and divide the proceeds evenly, with an arbitration hearing set for June 30 to divvy up their personal property. But Gygi tried to preempt the arbitration hearing by hiring a hit man to murder Hamill, according to the FBI affidavit. The man, a convicted felon, told them he risked a parole violation by driving out of state to see Hamill, but felt the need to warn him face-to-face that his wife wanted him murdered. On June 30, the man made a recorded phone call to Gygi on her cell phone and asked if she still wanted to go through with their plan, according to the affidavit.
