Man claims he was kidnapped - Columbia County News Times

A Martinez man told authorities Wednesday that two strangers kidnapped him and stole his truck. The 44-year-old man said he went to his ex-girlfriend’s house in Augusta on Aug. She bought him the truck four months ago and said she wanted it back, but the truck is in the man’s name. The two removed the man’s wallet and put him in his truck and drove him back to his home. Once home, the man said the strangers escorted him inside at gunpoint, took his 48-inch television, five white T-shirts and drove away. They told the man not to bother trying to find the truck or contacting his ex. The man called authorities three days later. A Martinez woman called deputies Wednesday saying she was scammed into depositing money because she had won a prize. The 70-year-old woman said she began receiving calls in January from a man claiming to be with the IRS. The caller told the woman she had won a cash settlement and a Mercedes Benz. The woman said she ignored the calls at first, but the caller was persistent and called from different numbers. About two weeks ago, the woman said she gave in and deposited $500 cash into an account with Bank America as she was told. Source: newstimes.augusta.com
