Dodge Dakota Convertible Was Too Cool to Last - BoldRide.com

In 1989, Dodge decided that they didn’t have to, and worked a deal with ASC (American Sunroof Company) to turn their Dakota workhorses into… well…headless horsemen. Dodge shipped its completed Dakotas over to ASC, which then set about sawing off the roof and adding a vinyl rag top and roll-bar in its place. For 1989, Dakota Convertibles came equipped with the V6 as standard, the option of two- or four-wheel drive, and either a five-speed manual or four-speed auto (four-cylinders came in ’90).
